Railway · Skyway · Cableway · Katoomba
A 52° railway down the cliff into the rainforest, a cable car with a glass floor panel 270 m above Katoomba Falls, and a second cable car back up, all on one ticket.
TicketsScenic World is a family-run attraction on the cliff edge at Katoomba, in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney. Its three rides and a boardwalk take you across and down into the Jamison Valley, a rainforest on the UNESCO World Heritage List below the Three Sisters, the three sandstone peaks that are the best-known sight in the Blue Mountains.
A visit is a loop: the Scenic Skyway across the gorge and back, the Scenic Railway down the cliff, the Scenic Walkway through the rainforest and the Scenic Cableway back up. Each ride departs about every 10 minutes.
A frosted glass panel in the cabin floor turns clear midway across the gorge, and you look straight down at the rainforest.
Railway seats can tilt you forward to 64° for the steepest ride, or lean back for a gentler one.
The Skyway and the Cableway both face the Three Sisters; the Cableway also passes Orphan Rock.
The Railway was built in the 1880s for a coal mine, and the valley boardwalk passes the old mine site.
A ride on the roof of the Skyway cabin at dusk, booked separately from A$349.
All three rides start from the main building at the top of the cliff. The Skyway crosses the gorge to Skyway East; the Railway and the Cableway reach the valley floor, where the Scenic Walkway joins their two stations.

Scenic World is on the clifftop at Katoomba, about 100 km west of Sydney: two hours by train and a short bus ride, or about 90 minutes by car.
Open every day of the year. NSW school holidays and public holidays keep the weekend hours, which can stretch on busy days. The last rides leave the top stations 20 minutes before closing.
Adults pay from A$64 on weekdays and A$70 at weekends, children aged 3 to 15 from A$38.40, and under 3s ride free. One ticket covers all three rides and the boardwalk for the day you book. All ticket options
Allow two to three hours for the three rides and the boardwalk. On busy days the queue for each ride can reach 40–60 minutes, against 10 minutes or less on quiet days.
Yes. The Railway, Skyway and Cableway cabins are enclosed and run in all weather. In very heavy rain the Scenic Railway or some boardwalks may close for safety. Ponchos and umbrellas are sold on site.
The Skyway, the Cableway and the 10-minute boardwalk between the valley stations take both. The Railway takes only a small stroller folded on your lap, and the longer boardwalk loops have steep slopes and stairs.
Only to the picnic tables in Skyway Park. Inside, the Terrace Cafe and EATS270 have halal, gluten-free and vegan options. Scenic World is cashless, so bring a card.
No, Scenic World has no luggage storage. Blue Mountains Bag Storage, a separate business in Katoomba, keeps bags for the day.
Yes. Trains from Central to Katoomba run at least hourly and take about two hours; buses 686 and 686G cover the last 3 km to Scenic World. Getting there
